Samos Consulting Limited (Samos Consulting) is bound by the New Zealand Privacy Act 1993. This policy outlines how Samos Consulting uses and manages personal information provided to it or collected by it and does not affect you rights under the Privacy Act 1993.
USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION Samos Consulting will use personal information it collects from Applicants for the primary purpose of submitting that information to prospective employers or principals that may, subject to each application, retain the services of the Applicant. Samos Consulting will also use the personal information to advise Applicants on employment opportunities or other information pertinent to their application. Samos Consulting may also collect personal information about the families of Applicants to assist them with visa applications and the like.
DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION With consent, Samos Consulting may disclose personal information, including sensitive information, held about an individual to:

• Medical practitioners
• Australian State Medical Registration Boards
• Australian Medical Council
• Medical Council of New Zealand
• Australasian, Australian and New Zealand Medical and Surgical Colleges
• Anyone to whom you authorise Samos Consulting to disclose information

This disclosure may be outside New Zealand if the application is for an overseas placement, you consent to such use.
COLLECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION Samos Consulting collects and holds personal information, including sensitive information about or in relation to Applicants who apply for positions with Institutions who are clients of Samos Consulting. Samos Consulting also often collects and holds personal information about Applicant's families. The information collected includes personal contact and identification details (including names, addresses, passport numbers, and drivers licence numbers), referee contact details, health details and medical and criminal record details (if relevant). Personal information you provide: Samos Consulting will generally collect personal information held about an individual by way of forms filled out by Applicants, data entered through our website, online research, face-to-face meetings, interviews and telephone calls. Samos Consulting collects this information through its staff and through its contracted service providers. Personal information provided by other people: Samos Consulting may be provided with personal information about an Applicant from a third party, for example a report provided by a medical professional or a reference from a previous employer and/or an educational institution. Samos Consulting may also be provided with personal information about a third party (for example, members of an Applicant's family) from an Applicant. If you choose not to provide this personal information, we may not be able to process your application or placement.
SENSITIVE INFORMATION In referring to sensitive information, Samos Consulting means information relating to a person's racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religion, trade union or other professional trade or association membership, sexual preferences, criminal record and health information. Sensitive information will be used and disclosed only for the purpose for which it was provided or a directly related secondary purpose, unless you agree otherwise, or the use of and disclosure of the sensitive information as allowed by law.
MANAGEMENT and SECURITY OF PERSONAL INFORMATION Unless we are required to provide your personal information to others by law, by court order or to investigate suspected fraud or other unlawful activity, your personal information will only be seen by persons working for us and persons to whom the personal information is disclosed in accordance with this policy. Personal information collected by Samos Consulting may be held and processed outside New Zealand. If you provide personal information to Samos Consulting, you consent to the information being held and processed offshore by Samos Consulting or its contracted service providers. Samos Consulting's personnel are required to respect confidentiality of Applicants' personal information and the privacy of individuals. Samos Consulting has in place procedures to protect the personal information that Samos Consulting holds from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure by use of various methods including locked storage of paper records and password access rights to computerised records.
UPDATING INFORMATION Samos Consulting endeavours to ensure that the personal information it holds is accurate, complete and up-to-date. A person may seek to update their personal information held by Samos Consulting at anytime. The Samos Consulting will not store personal information longer than necessary.
ACCESS TO PERSONAL INFORMATION Under the Privacy Act 1993, an individual has the right to request access to any personal information that Samos Consulting holds about them and advise Samos Consulting of any perceived inaccuracy. There are some circumstances where access may be denied. Such circumstances would include where a release of the information would have an unreasonable impact on the privacy of others, or where the release may result in the breach of Samos Consulting's duty of care to the Applicant. If particularly complex or detailed, there may be a cost for us to provide this information.
ELECTRONIC MEDIA POLICY Samos Consulting does not use clickstream data and cookies as part of the website. We do not spam or send unsolicited e-mails. By giving us your e-mail address you agree to receive e-mail correspondence from us from time to time informing you of employment opportunities or other information pertinent to your application. We do not pass on or sell your e-mail details to any third party.
CURRENCY Samos Consulting may from time to time, review and update this Privacy Policy to take account of new laws and technology, changes to Samos Consulting's operations and practices and to make sure it remains appropriate to the changing business environment. Any amendments will be posted on this website.
